Obituary

Lucienne C. Roy, 93, of Sanford died peacefully with her family by her side on March 17, 2017, at Ledgewood Manor in Windham. Lou was born on June 3, 1923 in Somersworth, NH. She was the daughter of the late Alfred and Parmelia (LaFlamme) Chasse. She attended the former Holy Family School and graduated from Sanford High School in 1943. She was a devout Catholic and a lifetime parishioner of St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, where she had been a member of the Ladies of Ste. Anne. For many years, Lou and her husband Réal (Ray) owned and operated Roy's Market. She later worked at Jagger Brothers in Springvale and then worked for many years at Sprague Electric in South Sanford. Lou was an avid golfer, bowler, and cross country skier. In addition, she enjoyed singing, dancing, playing cards and cheering for the Boston Red Sox. She had a great sense of humor and was a terrific cook! She was a loving wife, mother and Mémère. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Lou spent countless hours attending her grandchildren's musicals and sporting events. She was loved "a bushel and a peck" and will always be remembered for her loving heart, her generous ways, and her steadfast devotion to family. Lou was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Réal, and her brother, Alfred. Surviving are her daughter, Rachel Olson and her husband, Brent, of Windham; as well as her wonderful grandchildren; Kelli Knapp and her husband, Ryan, of Norway, Kevin and his wife, Alexis, of Gorham and Katie Hilo and her husband, Robert, of Keene, NH. She was also blessed with seven delightful great grandchildren; Elise and Audrey Knapp; Tyler, Jayden, and Connor Olson; Elias and Graham Hilo, as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Carl Schuler and the great staff at Ledgewood Manor for the kind, compassionate, and loving care they extended to Lou. They are also thankful for the Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church for faithfully bringing Communion to Lou. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, May 8, at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 66 North Ave., Sanford. Interment will be at St. Ignatius Cemetery, Berwick Rd. A reception will follow at the Sanford Town Club, 6 Washington St. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial donation in Lou's memory may do so to: Ledgewood Manor Activity Fund 200 Tandberg Trail Windham, ME 04062 Attn: Kim Bennett
