Windham- Louise Woodbury Wallace, 95, formerly of Windham, passed away on May 9, 2018 at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough. She was born on December 8, 1922 at her family home in South Portland to Leona Irene (Nixon) and John Buzzell Woodbury. Louise attended South Portland schools graduating in 1940. She then attended the Boston School of Physiology. On November 3rd, 1951 she married Lester Wallace in Middletown, Connecticut. They returned to Maine and resided in Windham raising their two children. Louise was active in the East Windham Community Church serving as the treasurer and as a member of the ladies' guild. She worked for 27 years as medical assistant to Dr. Benjamin Zolov. She enjoyed sewing, reading, music and traveling. Her family is thankful for the wonderful care that she received at the Maine Veterans Home. She is survived by her son, Scott Wallace of Windham, her daughter, Cindy and her husband, Tim DeCosta of Windham, her granddaughters Kate DeCosta of Fresno, CA and RaeJean Smith and her husband, Ryan, of South Portland, her great grandsons, Tyler and Xavier Gagne, Joshua Somerville and Wyatt Smith, and many nieces and nephews. She will be remembered fondly by her extended adopted family who knew her as Aunt Louise. Louise was predeceased by her husband, Lester, her siblings, Harvey Woodbury, Marion Fides, John Woodbury, Irene Plummer, Charles Woodbury, Virginia Slavin, Roberta Wood, her daughter-in-law Beverly Wallace, a step son David Wallace and her two closest friends, Yvonne Gallagher and Maxine Lowell. A period of visitation will be held on Sunday, June 3 from 1pm to 2pm at the Windham Chapel of Dolby, Blais & Segee, 434 River Rd., Windham, ME 04062, with a memorial service will begin at 2pm. Burial will be private at Arlington Cemetery in North Windham. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the residents' activity fund at the Maine Veterans Home 290 US Rt 1 Scarborough, ME 04074 or the Maine Cancer Foundation 170 US Rt 1 Suite 250 Falmouth, ME 04105.
