Obituary

Portland- Lorna Faye Logan passed away at Fallbrook Commons in Portland on April 3rd, 2026, at the age of 74, after a period of declining health. She was born on February 29, 1952, and being a Leap Year baby, she always said she was actually only a fourth of her given age.

Lorna was born to Amos and Helen (Cail) Logan in Harvey Station, New Brunswick, Canada. Her family moved to Maine when she was an infant. Lorna became an American citizen in 1965 but was very proud of her Candain heritage. She enjoyed frequent trips to her homeland to visit friends and family and to attend family reunions. Lorna always flew both Canadian and American flags.

Lorna grew up on New Gorham Road in Westbrook and lived there until moving to Longfellow Place in her later years. She graduated from Baxter School for the Deaf in 1970. She was very involved in her deaf culture, attending numerous Deaf Community Conventions and serving on their board, as well as being an active member of the local Deaf Club. Lorna was employed by Maine National Bank in Portland where she did keypunch and data processing.

She loved to travel, swim and snowmobile (she liked to go fast but her Papa slowed her down). Throughout her life, Lorna was very crafty, making a variety of homemade items for gifts and for decorating her home. She created an Advent calendar each year and her nieces have continued the tradition for their nieces.

Lorna always had a special connection to animals. Her favorite pets included her dog, Lassie, and cats, Cassie, Hobo, and White Mitt. Although not an actual pet, she had a friendship with a crow. Day after day, when Lorna was a child, she stood in the field across the street from her house and the crow would fly down and land on her shoulder.

Lorna was predeceased by her parents, Amos and Helen Logan, and sister-in-law Elena (Croy) Logan.

She is survived by her siblings, Gary Logan, Eric Logan (Linda) and Jill Doiron (Bruce). Also surviving are her nephews, Jamie Logan (Nikki), Shayne Croy (Jeanne), Derek Logan (Karen) and her nieces, Melissa Logan (Bob Verow) and Amanda Logan (Matt Brillon). She also leaves behind three great nephews (Noah, Ethan, Justin), four great nieces (Danielle, Shiloh, Willa, Milou) and one great, great, niece (Alessia). Other survivors include her Aunt Eliza plus many cousins and their families.

No wake or funeral will be held, per Lorna’s wishes. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on April 27, at Woodlawn Cemetery, 380 Stroudwater Street, Westbook. A celebration of life will follow at the Westbrook Eagles Aerie #2977, 89 Saco Street, Westbrook.

The family would like to thank the Deering Neighborhood staff at Fallbrook Commons and Affinity Hospice for their compassion and care. Special thanks to those who learned basic sign language to communicate with Lorna.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland 217 Landing Road, Westbrook, ME. 04092.
