Obituary

GORHAM - Lois Bernice Andersen, 89, died July 23, 2023 at Northern Lights Mercy Hospital. She was born February 24, 1934, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Haakon and Lorraine (Kutz) Andresen. She graduated from Bay View High School in 1952. She married Roy Andersen on October 2, 1954, at St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Their married life started in Milwaukee and then they relocated to Biddeford, Maine, in June, 1968. She was a long-time employee of Southern Maine Medical Center, starting as a volunteer when it was still Webber Hospital. After retirement she moved to Gorham. Lois was an artist and used all media, including watercolor, oils and pencil. She specialized in Norwegian Rosemaling and submitted several works for judging. In addition to her parents, Lois was predeceased by her husband, Roy, and son, Karl. She is survived by her daughter, Kari (Mark) Wilde, daughter-in-law, Bonita, grandchildren Frances, Karl Roy, Sara, Amalia, Hannah and Samuel, great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. The family extends a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Northern Lights Mercy Hospital in Portland for the extraordinary care she received while there. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 26 at 1:00 pm at Evergreen Cemetery in Portland with Pastor Tim Sandeno, Redeemer Lutheran Church, Gorham, officiating. The family also greatly thanks her pastor and other members of her congregation for their love and care for her as well as the staff at The Inn at Village Square, Gorham. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on" (Revelation 14:13).
