Obituary

WINDHAM – Lloyd E. Chandler Jr., 66, of Windham, Maine passed away at home on Sunday May 18, 2025, surrounded by those he loved most. Lloyd was born on December 8, 1958, in Falmouth, Maine to the late Lloyd E. Chandler Sr. and Barbara. He graduated from Falmouth High School in 1977 and embarked on his lifelong career in the automotive industry. Lloyd began working for Consumer Auto Parts in Gorham at just 16 years old. From there, he gained experience at several parts counters before landing what he considered his dream job with Chevrolet at the then Forest City Chevrolet in Portland. He laughs about being let go and rehired a couple times during his more than 20 years there, before eventually joining the Bill Dodge Auto Group family in 2006. Lloyd was very driven; in addition to nearly 50 years in the auto industry, he built and ran a successful property management LLC for almost 20 years with his close friend and business partner, John Mallia. He was a true jack of all trades, with a remarkable ability to turn his vision into reality and accomplish anything he set his mind to. Lloyd was known by many for his love of Italian sandwiches for breakfast. He had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, boating, and following Nascar – he would still tear up when remembering his racing hero, Dale Earnhardt. He bought a 1980 Camaro brand new that he maintained immaculately and still owns to this day. Lloyd spent many of his early years at his parents' family camp in Fayette, Maine where he often brought close friends to share in his love of hunting and fishing at David Pond. Later he enjoyed annual hunting trips in one of his favorite places, the Northern Maine Woods of Allagash. While Lloyd enjoyed many things, he was most proud of his two daughters, Alicia and Kaitlyn. He cherished every moment he spent with his girls, whether it was working on home projects, enjoying summer days boating on Sebago Lake and Brandy Pond, sharing family dinners, or simply being together. They enjoyed annual family vacations visiting his parents, Nan and Pop, who wintered in Bonita Springs, Florida, spending many afternoons at one of his favorite places, Doc's Beach House on the beautiful sands of Bonita Beach. He was a constant source of knowledge and support, offering advice and guidance to his girls as they grew up and navigated life's challenges. Ensuring his daughters were taken care of was what he considered his most important and meaningful role. He shared countless life lessons with them that they will carry in their hearts forever. Alicia and Kaitlyn continued to make Lloyd proud when they married Jeff and Dillion, bringing two incredible sons-in-law into his life. Throughout his more recent years he enjoyed including them both in his annual hunting trips to Allagash – his true test of acceptance. Lloyd met his wife Stacy in 2008, and they were married in 2012. Lloyd and Stacy designed and built their dream home on Little Sebago Lake in Windham in 2015. They spent their time with family and friends on the lake, traveling and making many happy memories together. In 2018 love only grew when he became a "Pop", a name lovingly passed down from his father, with the birth of his first granddaughter, Mallory, who he proudly nicknamed "MalPal". Over the next few years two more granddaughters followed, Emily and Karleigh. Lloyd loved nothing more than being Pop to his three girls and truly cherished every minute spent with each of them. Lloyd's resilience, strength and positivity throughout the past three years since his diagnosis was an inspiration to all. He was never one to let anything slow him down and continued to live every moment to the fullest. He often said he was going to "have fun every day" and went on to design and build both a custom wooden picnic table for the lake edge and a woodshed for the fire pit while undergoing treatment. Lloyd is survived by his wife Stacy; his two daughters, Alicia Haskell and her husband Jeff, Kaitlyn Partridge and her husband Dillion, both of Windham; three grandchildren, Mallory and Karleigh Haskell and Emily Partridge; two sisters, Sandra Cleveland and her husband David of Raymond and Kathy Johnston of Windham; several nieces and nephews and many friends he considered family. The family expresses immense gratitude for the guidance, love and support provided by Dr. Lu-Emerson and Sam Gagnon's team at MaineHealth Cancer Care Center, and the compassionate care from Hospice of Southern Maine. You will always hold a special place in our hearts along with the many friends who called and visited over Lloyd's over three-year journey with Glioblastoma. All are welcome to attend a Celebration of Lloyd's Life to be held on Saturday May 31, 2025, at Bruno's Restaurant & Tavern, 33 Allen Avenue in Portland from 12 – 4pm. In accordance with his wishes, a private burial will be held at Forest City Cemetery, with a portion of his ashes to be spread in the Northern Maine Woods of Allagash – one of the places he loved most. In memory of Lloyd, donations can be made to the Sportsman's Alliance of Maine or the Little Sebago Lake Association.
