Linda Sawyer, 75, of Casco, passed away on May 19, 2024. She was born on April 27th 1949 in Boston to Charles and Mary Fraser. Growing up in Boston Linda was surrounded by family and had shared memories of adventures with her "Pop", her beloved grandfather. They would ride the swan boats and take in the city together. Linda was fiercely independent starting at a young age. She would take the train all around the city she loved so much. When Linda was 12 in 1961 the family moved to Portland. Here she attended Catholic schools until deciding to transfer to Deering, and graduating from Portland High School in 1967. She met Bruce Sawyer on a blind date when she was 17 and he was 15 in 1966. That night he told her he was going to marry her. She responded with a laugh, but only a few years later they were married and moved to Windham where they stayed and eventually raised a family of three children; Tod Anthony, Carrie Lyn and Brad Frank Sawyer. Together Bruce and Linda started and managed a steel fabrication business, though always altruistic, she worked on several community clubs and boards over the years, quietly helping others in the community. Those who were closest to her could tell this was her true passion. She loved to cook and entertain, whether planned or impromptu you could never tell because she was a star hostess who welcomed everyone to the party as friends. Later in life she proudly took on the name "Randma" to her dearest Owen. The two of them had such a special bond and loved each other so much. They were partners in crime; whether it was convincing him he needed too much Hershey syrup, playing a game, or helping him learn about anything and everything. She supported all of his interests, taught him how to bake cookies, play cribbage and shared with him the love of football, history and great food. Linda was predeceased by her parents, her husband and her oldest son, Tod. She is survived by her children; Brad, Carrie, and her husband, George, and their son, Owen; her siblings, Joe, and his wife, Carol Fraser, Kathryn, and her husband Mick, Skerritt, Jim, and his wife Michelle Fraser, and her sister in law, Marilyn, and her husband, Ralph Hatt, and many beloved nieces and nephews who she held close to her heart. We all loved her dearly and want to celebrate the woman who touched all of our hearts for the last 75 years, a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
