Windham – Linda E. Montague, 73, died on April 15, 2017, at Maine Medical Center. She was born in Portland, on February 28, 1944, the daughter of Martin and Arlene (Durgin) Smart. Linda grew up in Portland, but has resided in Windham for the past 34 years. A hard worker, Linda worked at the Post Office for a few years before working for the Maine Turnpike. Making her career there for over 18 years, she started by collecting tolls at the Gray Toll, and then working general maintenance and even driving the plow trucks during our Maine winter storms. Linda loved all of her children, grandbabies and great grandbabies with her whole heart. She would have done anything for anyone; and she once knitted her grandson's whole class mittens one season. Linda enjoyed going to the Oxford casino, and was lucky enough to win on most occasions. She loved taking trips, either camping at Papoose Pond in Waterford or at KOA in Freeport, or going on cruises with her husband and family. Linda is survived by her husband, Gary B. Montague; children, Bernadette Jordan and her significant other Michael Vecchione, Galen "Lucky" Jordan, Jr., Phillip Jordan, and Darlene Phillips; step children, Thera Allen and fiancé Matt Hodgdon, and Lucas Montague and wife Julie; brothers, Raymond Smart and wife Linda "Janine", and Robert Smart and wife Terri; sister-in-law, Mary Smart; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Linda is predeceased by her brother, Phillip Smart. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham. Burial will be at a later date. A reception will follow after the service from 2:00 – 6:00pm at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 89 Saco Street, Westbrook.
