Obituary

Linda Merlene (Jensen) Alexander, 83, of Raymond passed away at home on February 21, 2024, peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born in Portland, Maine on May 21,1940, the daughter of Leroy N.O. Jensen and Rheta A. Rumery .Linda was a proud member of the Deering High School class of 1958. Go Rams! She was a worthy advisor of the Portland assembly #1 order of Rainbow Girls and a Noble Grand of Columbia Rebekah Lodge #46. Linda was also an advisor of Explorer Post 66 BSA and received the Award of Merit from the BSA. She was on the select board for the Town of Raymond for 12 years, along with the cemetery committee. She also volunteered her time working at the voting polls at Jordan Small School. Linda worked for Farrah Brown Automotive for over 12 years. She also worked for the Town of Gorham as a communications supervisor for police, fire, and rescue. She belonged to the Town of Raymond Ladies Auxiliary and Raymond Fire & Rescue. After retiring, she took on a part-time role as the Animal Control Officer for Raymond, Casco, Naples, and Frye Island. She was very interested in genealogy and enjoyed reading about town history. She was a strong believer in spirits and the afterlife, and could often be found watching Ghost Whisperer on television or reading mystery books. She was a lover of all animals (even skunks!) and had many pets throughout her life. She wasn't against bringing home a stray kitten and giving them a loving home. That's just who she was. Linda was widowed by her husband of 50 years, Donald E. Alexander in 2014. She was also predeceased by her sister, Marilyn in 2021, as well as her parents. She is survived by her children – Donalyn and her husband Rick of Raymond, and Timothy of Beverly Hills, Florida; her 3 granddaughters Emily and Morgan of Texas, and Chelsea of Raymond; her sister-in-law Phyllis and her husband John Gaily; several nephews,​ nieces, grandnieces and nephews, great-grandnieces, cousins, and many good friends. She also leaves behind her beloved dog Jazzee. Visiting hours will be held Friday, March 8th 2024, 4pm-7pm at Dolby Blais Segee Funeral Home, 434 River Road Windham Maine, 04062. A burial will take place at Raymond Village Cemetery at a later date.
