Leanne B. Elwell, 67, daughter of Kenneth and Mary (Barnes) Black, passed away on Friday, October 05, 2012 after a long courageous battle with cancer at her home surrounded by her family. Leanne lived in Westbrook all her life, graduating from Westbrook High School in 1963.  As a child, she was a member of the Blue Birds, Camp Fire Girls, and Girl Scouts.  Throughout school, Leanne played the accordion, piano, and clarinet. After being out of school for fifteen years, and raising three children, Leanne became a Nurse's Aide, working at the Osteopathic hospital for several years. She went on to work in Home Health Care until 2000 when she had to stop working after succumbing to health problems. In 2004, Leanne married her high school sweetheart, after he had dumped her forty years prior, as she would always tell everyone. Leanne leaves behind a husband Stephen Elwell of Westbrook; three daughters Rebecca Hansen and her husband Ed, Lisa Arsenault and husband Charlie, and Wendy Sargent; six grandchildren, Scott and Amber Hansen, Jessica and Shaun Arsenault, Tori and Jade Bovill, and two great grandchildren Darian Hodgdon and Logan Arsenault, as well as her dog Duchess. Visiting hours will be from 11AM to 1 PM Tuesday at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook, where a funeral service will follow at 1PM.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.  On line condolences may be expressed at blaisandhayfuneralhome.com.
