Obituary

Gorham- Leah Woodman Larochelle, 93, was reunited with her husband Harry (Shorty) and her three daughters on Monday, May 22, 2017. The daughter of Ernest and Anna (Potter) Woodman, she was born in 1924 in Denmark Maine. She graduated from Burrillville High School, in Harrisville Road Island. She attended business classes at Northeastern University in Boston, and University of Southern Maine. She married Harry P. Larochelle and they had three daughters. Tragically they lost all three daughters in a house fire in February 1956. She worked in the offices in various compacities including accounting work, at S.D. Warren in Westbrook for nearly 40 years. She was also a real estate broker with the Marion Mayberry Agency. She was a member of Corner Stone Chapter No. 193 Order of the Eastern Star of Portland, and served as secretary of the Pine Tree Chapter for many years. She was a Past Noble Grand in the Narragansett Rebekah's Lodge # 145 in Gorham, where she enjoyed putting on suppers with her mother who was also a member. She served as past president of the Gorham Fire Department Auxiliary. She and Harry were active with the Shriners. She volunteered as a leader in the Bluebirds Campfire Girls. She enjoyed being a hostess, and often hosted friends and family at her Swimming Pool. Summers were enjoyed by Leah and Harry in their camper on Tripp Lake. She was predeceased by her husband Harry, her daughters Joan Louise age 10, Patricia Ann age 8, and Betty Lou age 3. She is survived by her brothers George Woodman of Westbrook, and Dwight Woodman of Windham, and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM, on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Dolby Funeral Chapel, 76 State St. Gorham. A service by the Order of the Eastern Star will be held at 12:00 PM followed by a funeral service, with Rev. Philip Shearman officiating. Interment will be in Eastern Cemetery in Gorham.
