Lawrence Caron passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at his home in Westbrook at the age of 86 after a lengthy illness. He was born on November 28, 1937, to Joseph and Mary Gagne Caron. He went to Westbrook schools, served in the United States Marine Corps 1954-1959. He married Carol Martin of Westbrook in 1960. In September of 2024 they celebrated 64 years of marriage. Larry started working at S.D. Warren in 1959 in the color room then in 1969 he transferred to security where he retired as Sargent in 1992. He then worked at Budget/Avis rental until 2004. He was a call fireman at the Westbrook Fire Department, Engine 3 for 15 years. He was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Hyacinth Church and was a 4th degree knight. Larry and Carol enjoyed spending their winter months in their Florida home for 14 years where they made many lifelong friends. Larry started playing golf at the age of 65. He enjoyed teeing off with his wife Carol and his weekly travel team of local golf buddies. Larry was an avid fly fisherman fishing the Maine waterways for landlocked salmon and brook trout. Larry and Carol enjoyed taking frequent vacation trips with their children and grandchildren where the whole family enjoyed participating in outings and large family dinners. Larry was predeceased by his parents, and 14 siblings. Larry was the youngest of 11 boys and 4 girls. Larry is survived by his wife Carol and his sons Mark and his wife Brenda of Windham, and Michael and his wife Sheila of Brown Summit, NC. Larry and Carol have four grandchildren; Naomi Caron of Manchester, NH, Nicole Gibbon of Scottsdale, AZ, Joshua Caron of Reidsville, NC and Alyssa Stiles of Windham, ME. They also have four great grandchildren, Leanna Hare, of Manchester, NH, Magnus and Beatrix Gibbon of Scottsdale, AZ, Vincent Caron of Reidsville, NC. They also have two step great grandchildren, C.J.and Dalton of Reidsville, NC. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 17 from 4 to 7 PM at Dolby, Blais & Segee Funeral Home, 35 Church Street, Westbrook. A Funeral will be held on Monday, November 18th at St. Hyacinth Church at 10:00 am, with burial to follow at St. Hyacinth Cemetery. The family would like to sincerely thank the wonderful staff at Hospice of Southern Maine and the Sacoppee Valley Nursing and Home Health Care for their dedication and support. The Portland VA facility was also instrumental in providing needed resources to help the family get through this difficult period.
