Obituary

Wiscasset – Larry Matthew Jaynes, 61, died on August 23, 2016, at a hospice facility in Rockport. He was born in Portland on October 22, 1954, the son of Leonard and Joyce (Marquis) Jaynes. Larry had an amazing sense of humor. When spending time with Larry, laughter and smiles abounded, and maybe some groans at his witty and numerous puns. He was wonderfully generous and made friends and family always feel at home. In addition to the wonderful company and conversation, having a meal with Larry was always a delight as he was a wonderful cook! He put love and lots of spices into his meals, which were always eaten with plenty of yummy noises. Larry was also a skilled teacher who loved to help others understand God's Word. Through God, he overcame illiteracy and wrote several published books, booklets, and created an inspirational website, where he conveyed knowledge from the Bible in 'byte-sized' teachings: biblebyte.org. Through this site, his writings, and personal interactions, Larry inspired and helped thousands. But Larry's talents were numerous. He was incredibly creative. One of his talents included carpentry. He crafted elegant, detailed, wood furniture from miniatures to life-sized pieces. Additionally, he was a skilled artist, and he always had an idea for a new invention. Even toward the end, after experiencing the agony of the nasogastric tube, the first thing he did in the car the moment he left the hospital was start explaining how he had an idea for a new way to do the nasogastric tubes that would save others the torment. Larry Lived, Laughed, and Loved fully in his life as a loving husband, father, and son. In addition to his mother, Joyce Jaynes of Windham, ME, Larry is survived by his beloved wife of over 24 years, Cindi; son, Matthew David Jaynes and wife Ashley of Bruceville, TX; daughter, Natalie A. Clay of Calhoun, LA; grandson, Langston Jaynes; brothers, Stephen and wife Rosa of Bowden, David and wife Laurie of Falmouth, Ronald and wife Pamela of Belmont, NH, and Forrest Jaynes of Windham; and sister, Corinna Jackson and husband Warren of Casco. A celebration of life will be held at 1pm on Thursday, August 25, 2016, at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery, Windham.
