Westbrook – L. Fred Stearns, 70, of Duck Pond Rd., passed away Wednesday Oct. 30, at the Gosnell Hospice Center, after a brief illness. He was born in Portland, the son of Leo E. and Stasia Renski Stearns. He was raised and educated in Westbrook, was a 1961 graduate of Westbrook High School. Fred was employed by Rowe Ford in Westbrook. He was the parts manager there for many years. As a young man he enjoyed fishing, snow skiing and water skiing, he was a very accomplished water skier. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events, gardening, building furniture. He is survived by his mother Stasia, his wife of 48 years Donna Madore Stearns, 2 sons Jeffrey Stearns, Christopher and wife Brenda Stearns, 2 grandchildren Caitlyn Marie Stearns and Benjamin James Stearns all of Westbrook, a sister Joan Goodall of Richmond, nieces and nephews Memorial Services will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Westbrook Warren Congregational Church.
