Westbrook, ME – Kristian Lee Barrett, 44, died on August 6, 2017. He was born in Portland on May 29, 1973, the son of Kirk and the late Diana Joyce. Kristian grew up in South Portland and attended the local schools. As a jack-of-all-trades, Kristian was skilled in carpentry, plumbing, and electrical. He was an amazing cook, often taking turns with his wife to cook family meals. Kristian was best at making Chinese dinners, wings, and venison, and he would often pull out his best trick of cracking four eggs at one time to impress whomever was around. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt to hunt and fish. Taking time to enjoy small things like crisp autumn mornings or watching the sunsets from his tree stand. Kristian had a magnetic personality, and drew people close to him with his energy and smile. His tough exterior appearance was just show, because he had the biggest and kindest heart, just a softie on the inside. Kristian's greatest pride was his family. He was an amazing father, husband, and friend. He took his children hunting with him and coached his youngest son's soccer team so they could spend time together. He often took pleasure in coming up with new ways to embarrass his family and friends as well. Kristian was the best story-teller, with an exaggerated imagination with the facts. He loved his Patriots, Red Sox, and the WWE. Kristian was an individual who was loved by many, who might be best described as "loving every day." Kristian is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Schelling) Barrett; 5 children, Koty Barrett and wife Ashley and their son, Kamren, Kelsey Barrett, Kaleb Barrett, Wyatt Barrett, and Kyle Paul and significant other Avery "Billy" Cochran; four siblings, Kevin Barrett and wife Kari, and their children, Danielle Barrett Foley and husband Brian and children, Kraig Barrett, and Heather Dow and her son; mother-in-law, Darlene Schelling; father-in-law, Mark Schelling and wife Tina; and brothers-in-law, Josh Davis and girlfriend Abby, and Derek Schelling and wife Colleen, and their daughter. A memorial service will be celebrated at 11am on Friday, August 11, 2017 at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham.
