Our hearts have been broken open. We are deeply saddened and shocked by the sudden loss of our beloved daughter, mother, sister and friend, Kimberly "Kim" Leanne Grubb Gammon. At the age of 55 years old, she died on March 16, 2024 in her Windham, Maine home. Kim was born in Portland, Maine on November 22, 1968 as the youngest child of Louis and Leanne Grubb. She was raised in Westbrook, Maine and attended Andover College, where she attained an Associate's Degree. She became a mother on June 5, 1993 to her twin boys, Christopher and Robert Grubb and a couple years later, she and the boys became residents of Windham, Maine after buying a home on Vista Drive. Kim worked as a medical assistant at Maine Eye Center, assisting several doctors while performing pre-treatment on patients. Throughout the many years that Kim worked at Maine Eye Center, she would travel to Guatemala with teams of doctors and assistants to help the local citizens with their eye care needs. For more than a decade up until her passing, she worked for Maine Medical Partners at both the Scarborough and Biddeford locations in Otolaryngology, as a medical assistant under Dr. Megan Abbott. Kim was passionate about her job and helping people. She treasured her colleagues and held Dr. Abbott in the highest esteem, and as time went on Kim and Dr. Abbott became the greatest of friends. In her early adult life, Kim worked in a variety of different positions including food catering, waitressing, retail and manufacturing for a semiconductor in South Portland. She enjoyed spending time with family playing cards and cribbage. When her parents were under the weather, she would bring them her version of Meals-on-Wheels, using her gourmet cooking skills. When she wasn't baking her signature chocolate chip cookies, one could find her outside working in her beautiful flower gardens, which often had visitors and passerby's paying her compliments. She also loved Tinkerbell, crime and suspense novels and movie, and in the summer, months kayaking and swimming with her favorite pal and closest companion, Hershey, who was her "shadow" dog. Kim absolutely adored her dog and her cat, Bear. Kim was a very caring and loving woman. She cared deeply for the people around her and was willing to help anyone in need, always putting other people's needs, including family, before her own. She had a vivacious personality and always made the people around her laugh. She was fearless and independent, yet sensitive and incredibly compassionate. Kim made an impact on so many lives and to say she will be missed, is quite the understatement. Kim is survived and unbearably missed by her two sons Christopher Grubb and Robert Grubb, their step father Dana Gammon, her parents Louis Grubb Sr. and Leanne Delong Grubb, her siblings Carl Grubb, Louis Grubb Jr., Kathy French and her husband Thomas, and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. The family would like to thank everyone for all of the support, prayers, food and love that has been shared with them on the day of Kim's passing and all of the days that have followed since. A very special thanks to Kim's neighbor and close friend of 25 years, John Scott, who has been immensely helpful and supportive during this sad and difficult time, taking care of Kim's cat and being a shoulder for Robert and Christopher to lean on. And a big thank you to Dr. Abbott, for being the great friend and mentor that she is. Family & friends are invited to attend the funeral service and visitation, which will be held on Friday, March 29, 2024 at the Dolby, Blais & Segee Funeral Home, 434 River Rd. Windham, Maine. The visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the funeral service will directly follow, beginning at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Gary Ouellette as the officiant. A graveside burial will be planned for a later date.
