Kevin A. Crocker, born June 19, 1952 in Niskayuna, NY, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026 in Portland, ME, just after celebrating his 74th birthday. To those who knew him, Kevin’s presence was a cherished light—warm, generous, and quietly steadfast.
Raised by his beloved parents, Philip Crocker and Claire (Simmons), both of whom predeceased him, Kevin grew up with a keen sense of curiosity and a wide-open heart. He moved to Marlborough, MA as a child and graduated from Marlborough High School, a milestone that marked the beginning of a lifelong pursuit of learning and growth. Determined and diligent, he later went on to earn his bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Maine, a testament to his persistent spirit—a quality he would carry throughout every chapter of his life.
Kevin was a man whose diverse passions and careers mirrored his zest for life and ability to adapt. In his younger days, he took to the sea as an independent lobsterman, a path uniquely sparked by the gift of 180 lobster traps. Operating from only a simple skiff, Kevin’s early mornings on the water spoke to his love of nature, independence, and the rewards of hard work.
A man of many talents, Kevin spent time working at Radio Shack, channeling his technical savvy and people skills as a specialist in computer sales. His calm patience and friendly, approachable manner endeared him to colleagues and customers alike. Yet, it was his vibrant love of music and community gatherings that led him to DJ at weddings and various celebrations. Kevin found genuine joy spinning music and helping people create joyful memories on their special days.
It was behind the microphone, however, where Kevin seemed to find his true calling. For twenty years, he hosted WLOB's "Talk in Maine," guiding countless conversations and connecting countless Mainers each day. The radio booth became a second home, a place where his voice became familiar and comforting to so many. Hosting that program was more than a job—it was a vocation that allowed Kevin to engage, inform, and unite his community with remarkable warmth and intelligence.
Kevin’s personal life was imbued with rich hobbies and warm companionship, both human and animal. A true enthusiast, he loved the discipline and focus of firearms—both in his own marksmanship and in helping others safely discover the sport. At home, Kevin's heart was given over to his "clowder of cats"—Emma, Tasha, Loki, Vinnie, Rico, and Frankie—each a testament to his gentleness and affection for animals. Their presence brought laughter and comfort into his days.
Some of his most treasured moments were spent in Pemaquid at "The Cottage," a place of tranquility and reflection, where the world seemed to slow down. Family, friends, and feline companions alike can attest to Kevin's delight in sharing his special haven, turning everyday visits into lasting memories.
In addition to all his endeavors and passions, Kevin was profoundly proud of his connection to the Cornerstone Masonic Lodge. Raised to a Master Mason on May 26, 1999, he embraced the brotherhood and principles at the heart of Masonry, striving always to embody its values of integrity, charity, and fellowship.
Kevin is survived by his partner Doreen R. Farr and his daughter Kristina as well as his four grandchildren Alexandria, Isabella, Juliette and Cassandra.
Loss has frequently marked Kevin's journey—his father, Philip; his mother, Claire; his beloved daughter, Alanna Phillips-Crocker; and his brother, Brian, have all preceded him in death. Their memories, like Kevin’s life, are woven indelibly into the hearts of all those left behind.
A memorial gathering for Kevin will be held on July 1, 2026, from 11 am to 1 pm at Dolby, Blais & Segee - Westbrook Chapel, 35 Church Street, Westbrook, ME. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 PM at the same location. All are welcome to come together in remembrance, reflection, and gratitude for a life lived with sincerity and love.
Though Kevin is no longer with us, his legacy endures—in stories told on Maine airwaves, in the peaceful mornings at "The Cottage," in friendships, shared laughter, and the gentle purr of contented cats. May those who loved him find solace in remembrance and strength in the indelible marks he left on their hearts.
