WINDHAM - Kermit E Hodgdon, Sr., 89 passed away peacefully on April 23, 2016 at Mercy Hospital. He was born in Portland, Maine on February 2, 1927, the son of the late Howard W. & Marion Hanson-Hodgdon. Kermit graduated from Windham High School, Class of 1945. Kermit was predeceased by his wife Theresa, his brother Sturgis and granddaughter, Kimberly Dolby. He is survived by his children, Brenda True & her husband John of Scarborough , Linda Coffin & her husband Richard of Brunswick , Kermit Jr & his wife Connie of Windham, Sandra & her husband Bruce McLellan of Rochester, NY, Alan & his wife Dorothy of Windham and Richard of Sanford; 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren and his sister Janet Harrison of Maryland. After graduating high school in 1945, Kermit entered maritime service. WW II ended a short time later so he came home to work for Haley the Mover in Portland for eight years, he then drove truck for New England Metal Culvert in Portland for the next 19 years. Kermit then went to work for the Windham School Department, where he supervised the grounds maintenance for 35 years before retiring on his 80th birthday in 2007. Kermit enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening as well as spending time with his devoted family. The family wishes to thank the VNA Home Health and Hospice team of South Portland for their tremendous support during Kermit's journey. Visiting hours will be 4:00 – 7:00pm on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham. Private graveside services will be in the family lot at Smith Cemetery, Windham.
