It is with great sadness that the family of Kathleen "Kathy" Martin announce her passing on May 22, 2017. She was born on February 28, 1952 to Helen S. Martin and Richard C. Martin. Kathy passed away at 65 years of age succumbing to chronic lung disease. Relieved of her pain & suffering as she passed into the light. Kathy was born at Mercy Hospital and grew up locally. She attended schools in Westbrook and Windham. She worked for many years at Autowise the parts place, State Farm Insurance and freelance work as a medical transcriptionist to many local medical practices. Kathy's animal was the wolf, hence any dog who entered her life was welcomed with open arms. Her taste for music ranged from Neil Diamond to Twisted Sister, George Thoroughgood to Van Halen and everything in between. She had a keen knowledge of trivia, always ready to help with a crossword puzzle or share facts with others. Kathy was predeceased by her father and maternal and paternal grandparents. She is survived by her loving mother Helen Martin; sisters Susan Viherek and husband Steve, Donna Stevens and her husband Jim, Jean Carrier and her husband Michel, and Sally Martin. She is also survived by her stepson, Steven Brann. Kathy will be fondly remembered by many aunts, uncles, her nieces and nephews James M. Tirrell III, Anthony and Amanda Martin, Seamus and Ryan Stevens, Joshua and Elizabeth Carrier, Daniel and Ellyn O'Brion; great nieces and nephews Sadie Mae, Zander, Memphis, Liam, Dillen, and Brooke; and her friends at Knight Street. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Officer Morrell from Westbrook PD, Casey with MMC and Michelle with Westbrook Housing, for being there with our Mom until we arrived, A celebration of her life will be held from 4 to 7 PM Tuesday, May 30, at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook.
