YARMOUTH – Katherine Pushard Bean passed away on February 26, 2018 at the age of 88 after a brief illness at Mercy Hospital in Portland, Maine. She was born on October 11, 1929 to Roland and Barbara Pushard in Augusta, Maine and was a graduate of Cony High School, Class of 1947. On April 28, 1948, she married Merrill F. Bean, Sr. and lived in North Windham. Later they moved to their place on Little Sebago where she enjoyed everything the lake had to offer from entertaining family and friends to the peace and beauty surrounding them. In 2001, Katherine and Merrill moved to Yarmouth to be closer to their son, Merrill F. Bean, Jr. and family. Katherine belonged to the Windham Pinea Rebekahs Lodge (Past Noble Grand). She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the North Windham Fire Company and taught Sunday School at the North Windham Union Church. In 1984, after working 27 years for Chevron/Community Oil Company, Katherine retired. Her retirement lasted one day. She went to work for Randall & McAllister/Webber Energy and retired for the second time in 1991. Katherine enjoyed knitting and doing crafts. She was an avid sports fan, following her favorite professional teams and attending all her grandchildren's respective sports just as she had during her son's school years. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. There was nothing she loved more than giving and watching her family open up the mountain of presents she had painstakingly chosen for each member. In the summer, she and Merrill loved taking the grandchildren to different places in their RV. Katherine was predeceased by her husband, Merrill F. Bean, Sr. as well as her parents, her brother, Donald Pushard and close friend and sister-in-law, Barbara Bentle. She is survived by her son, Merrill F. Bean, Jr. and wife Raelene H.
