WINDHAM, MAINE—Julia Frerk Kelley, 96, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was born August 14, 1923, a daughter of Edward and Julianna (Diessle) George. Julia was a graduate of Far Rockaway High School, New York. She was later married to Max Frerk and together they raised three daughters, Judith, Joyce, and Janine. Julia spent her working years employed at the Queens Federation of Churches and as an executive secretary in pharmaceuticals. Julia kept active throughout her life and loved playing tennis, hiking and biking. Even at 96 years old, Julia could be found riding her bicycle. She was an independent woman who enjoyed traveling all over the world with her second husband, John, who she married in 1998. Above all, she was the matriarch of her family and will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her children, Judith Guhl and her husband Richard, Joyce Whidden and her husband Bruce, and Janine Howett and her husband Robert; grandchildren, Marta, Erik, Chris, Rebecca, Darrel, and Spencer; as well as six great grandchildren, Madeline, Seth, Libby, Brendan, Cody and Elliott. She was predeceased by her first and second husbands, Max Frerk and John Kelley; as well as her siblings, Elsie Wild, Frank George, and Edward "Buddy" George. A celebration of life will be held at North Windham Union Church at a later date and time to be announced. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to North Windham Union Church (Christian Education.)
