Obituary

Judith Lorraine Doten, a resident of Westbrook, Maine, passed away peacefully at her home on November 3, 2023, at the age of 81. She was born on May 4, 1942 to William and Leona Brown of Fryeburg . Judy spent several years in Fryeburg, and moved to Bridgton where she graduated in the Class of 1960. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Leroy Doten, and their marriage on February 12, 1963, was the beginning of a beautiful journey together. Judy and Leroy built a life filled with love, travel, and countless cherished memories. Throughout her working years, Judy exhibited a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence. She began her career at Union Mutual, where she worked for four years of her life. Subsequently, she worked as a valued member of Dr. Harry Bliss's team for a decade. She then worked for Cardiovascular Consultants, where she served for an impressive 20 years before retiring. Her diligence and compassion in her work left a lasting impact on those she served and worked with. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Judy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Ann Doten, and her siblings Earnest, Howard, Roger, Stanley, Gordon, Barbara and Beverly. She is survived by her loving husband, Leroy Doten, and their son, James Doten, and daughter-in-law, Cathy Kelso-Doten. Judy's legacy also lives on through her four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of whom were a constant source of joy in her life. Judy was a woman of many talents. She had a green thumb and a deep love of gardening, cultivating beautiful blooms that brightened her surroundings. Her skills as a quilter were remarkable, and she enjoyed making quilts and sharing them with her family and received numerous awards for her handiwork. She took great pleasure in watching the birds in her garden, with cardinals being her favorite, and found solace in their cheerful songs. She especially enjoyed monarch butterflies. She also enjoyed baking. She and Roy enjoyed many winters in Inverness, Florida after retiring. In accordance with her wishes, a private ceremony to celebrate her life will be held at Brooklawn Memorial Park. The family kindly requests that you remember Judy in your own special way, cherishing the memories you shared with her.
