Obituary

WINDHAM - Judith M. Anderson, 86, passed away on February 28, 2022, at the Gorham House after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family. Judy was a long time Westbrook, resident and loved family more than anything else. She loved to spend time with her one true love, Andy, at their lakeside home entertaining family and friends. She was very proud to tell everyone that Andy designed and built the lake house by using the trees on their lot, having had the trees milled into boards and used them to build the house. Watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren swim and boat at the lake gave Judy great pleasure. Judy met Andy at a dance in Westbrook in 1960 and never looked at another, sharing 55 years of blissful marriage together. Over the years, Andy and Judy enjoyed supporting local churches by attending bean suppers, playing cards with friends, traveling to visit relatives, and watching Jeopardy together every night. She was an active member of her community for years, volunteering for Westbrook Rescue Squad, acting as a school crossing guard, and working in a school cafeteria. She loved traveling to Florida, going out to breakfast and dinner, playing the slot machines at the casino, and being with her ceramics group where she made beautifully painted pieces for family members. Judy was exceedingly generous year-round and took pleasure in buying special Christmas gifts for her children, in-laws, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The process began each year in January, highlighted by Judy, her daughter's, and her granddaughter's North Conway shopping trip, a seventeen-year tradition. Judy loved watching each person's eyes light up when they opened their special gift. Judy was a wonderful mother to her four surviving children, Teresa and her husband, Mike Belanger, Andy and his wife, Laurie, Donna and her husband, Scott Jordan, and Maureen and her husband, Dale Mains. She was an amazing Grammie to her grandchildren, Melissa, Derek, Ryan, Keith, Brianna, Ashlie, Kayla, Britney, Adam, Spencer, Brooke, and Bridget; and loving Great-Grammie to her great-grandchildren, Natalie, Connor, Caleb, Taylor, Hunter, Abigail, and Ensley. In addition to her parents, Earl and Ethel Ross, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Andrew Anderson, who passed away in 2016; and her brother Larry Ross all who are with her now at peace in heaven. The family would like to thank to Dr. James Zietlin for his long-time care, the Gorham House nurses, staff, Dr. Ari Berman where she received excellent care, and to Beacon Hospice for the special care. Visiting hours will be held 5-7 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2022, at the Westbrook Chapel of Dolby, Blais & Segee, 35 Church St. A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, March 5, 2022, at St. Hyacinth's Church, 268 Brown Street, Westbrook. A reception will follow the funeral service at Andy and Judy's lakeside home. Interment at St. Hyacinth's Cemetery, Westbrook will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital, 22 Bramhall St., Portland, ME 04102 or to the Gorham House, 50 New Portland Rd., Gorham, ME 04038.
