Josephine Mary Harnden, 87 of Westbrook, ME, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2024. She was born in Portland, Maine on September 11, 1936 to Ferdinand Pesce and Julia Porello Pesce. She attended Westbrook High School School and graduated in the class of 1955, afterwards she attended the Golden School of Beauty where she became a beautician. She had many jobs throughout her life working at Maine National Bank, BJ's and Blue Cross where she met the love of her life Lawrence W. Harnden. They were married April 25, 1964 and enjoyed 58 years of marriage until his passing in 2022. One of the most important things to Josephine was family. She loved hosting large family dinners for holidays, Christmas was her favorite. She made sure everyone had a gift for Christmas, her parlor would overflow with gifts. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and teaching them the art of making raviolis and passing on her Italian heritage. Josephine was predeceased by her parents, her husband Lawrence, her brothers Fred and Alexander Pesce, sister Ursula, grandson Brandon Dumond and life long friends Donna and Bob McQuinn. She is survived by her four children Juliene (Dale) Adrience, Cheryll (David) Martel, Laurene (Edmund) Dumond, Joel Harnden and his companion Ann Petty. Her grandchildren Nicholas, Corey and his wife Julia, Tyler, Alexander, Kyle, Maresa, Adrianna, Joel Michael, Jenna, and two great-grandchildren Noah and Liam. Josephine was blessed with life-long friends Diane Dyer, Velma Labrecque, Roberta Morrill, and Carol Juliano who always checked in on her. The family would like to extend a thank you to the ICU nurses at Mercy Hospital for their kind and compassionate care. A graveside service will be held Friday August 16 at 3pm at St. Hyacinth Cemetery, 296 Stroudwater Street Westbrook Maine 04092.
