Josephine R. (Chute) (Wheeler) Chase, 81 of Gorham, ME passed away at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine on October 30th, 2014 with close family by her side. Josephine was born on July 8th 1933, the youngest of four siblings born to Arthur and Catherine Chute. She was born in Dayton, Maine and grew up in Saco, Maine. She attended Thornton Academy and graduated in 1951 on the Honor Roll. She loved Thornton Academy. She always credited it with providing her an exceptional education and preparing her well for life. Going to Thornton Class Reunions to visit the school and old friends was something that she looked forward to and enjoyed very much. Shortly after graduating high school she worked at Webber Hospital as a secretary. After marrying her husband Herbert Wheeler on December 7th, 1957 she traveled with him all over the East Coast, as he owned and operated his own semi-truck. They had lots of adventures together through the years of traveling, until his death took them apart. After Herbert's death, Josephine managed the cafeteria at Blue Cross in Westbrook, then working at a catering company for several years. Josephine's favorite hobbies were camping, traveling, and playing poker. She enjoyed music of all kinds; Semi Classics, Opera, Country, and Cajun music were particular favorites. Her favorite song was a Cajun song by Doug Kershaw titled "Diggy Liggy Lo." She also enjoyed singing Opera Songs. Josephine is survived by her loving family, daughter Rosalyn Janney and her husband Donnie Janney, her grandsons Vincent Janney and Patrick Janney, granddaughter Kate, and her beloved and particularly feisty pet fish named "Blue Beard." For Josephine, her life was all about her family and friends. She would do anything she could to help them. She was truly an exceptional person, loved by many. She will be missed dearly. Services will be held for family and friends at Blais and Hay Funeral Home 35 Church St Westbrook, ME. The wake will be held Thursday November 6th, 2014 7pm-9pm, with Memorial Services on Friday November 7th 2014 at 11am.
