Joseph "Eddie" Richards, 89, of Kennard St., Westbrook, passed away Sunday, November 09, 2014, at Maine Medical Center. A life-long resident of Westbrook, he was born here, the son of Anicet and Delma (Martin) Richards. Eddie served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Sigsbee during World War II. He returned to Westbrook, married Anita Demers, and began a career at S.D. Warren Paper Co in the Belt Shop, where he worked for over 40 years before retiring. After retiring, Eddie worked part time at Michael's Deli as a food delivery driver. He was communicant of St. Joseph and St. Hyacinth Churches and a member of the Westbrook Eagles, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 0197, and the Tin Can Sailors. He enjoyed traveling, going out to eat, and playing the lottery. He especially cherished his time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and had a special pet Buddy. Eddie was predeceased by his wife Anita in 2000, and two sisters, Bernadette Richards and Rita Minervino. He is survived by his children, Susan Sargent of Westbrook, Anthony Richards and fiancé Lisa Lavallee of Saco, Wayne Richards and wife Cetta of Portland, Jeanne Richards of Westbrook, and his "adopted daughter "Pam Sargent of Westbrook; grandchildren Jennifer Brown and husband Forrest, Joseph Sargent and wife Aimee, Kelsey Richards and Alex Richards; great grandchildren Daniel Brown, Brody and Bentley Sargent; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
