Gorham, ME - Joseph Hyde Mottershead, 77 of Gorham passed away peacefully on Friday September 8, 2023 at Maine Medical Center. He was born April 4, 1946 in Portland, the son of Joseph Sr and Pauline Mottershead. Joe lived an active and adventurous life enjoying activities such as boating, offshore fishing, hunting, flying planes, competitive skeet shooting, motorcycling and other out door activities. One of Joe's favorite activities was attending the annual International Seaplane Fly-ins in Greenville Maine, where he was fortunate enough to attend with his coworkers at Maine Aviation. One of Joe's passions in life was airplanes. He attended East Coast Aero Tech as an A&P Mechanic in the class of 1967. He was fortunate enough to spend the last nearly 15 years in sales with Maine Aviation and worked until his last day. Joe was a business owner in a variety of fields including building houses, boat sales, car sales, and airplane sales. Joe's businesses included Downeast Dwellings, Scarborough Sports, Downeast Marine, Downwind Aviation and Auto Village. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Mottershead (Married 9/11/1965), his daughter Karen Watson of Dover MA, and his son Barry Mottershead of Guyton GA and grand children Isabel Watson, Ian Watson and Aiden Mottershead. Visitation will be from 11:00am-1:00pm, and a brief 1:00pm service Saturday September 16, 2023 at Dolby, Blais, Segee, 76 State Street, Gorham Maine 04038.
