Obituary

Jon "Jeff" Reutlinger Windham- John "Jeff" Reutlinger, 78, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on November 17th, 2025. He was born December 1, 1946 in Hazelton Pennsylvania, the son of late John J. And Lois (Lamont) Reutlinger. Jeff graduated from Liberty high school in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He then went on to work at Kamp Karamac in New Jersey for the summers of 1964 through 1966, where he would always say he had the best time of his life. He started as a dish washer and worked his way up to becoming the social director, planning the many events and weekly shows for the guests. He even found favor with the owner and became his personal chauffeur. Following his special summers there, he went on to join the U.S. Navy and worked aboard the USS Lewis and Clark as a sonar tech. After the navy he attended several different colleges searching for the one thing he wanted to do the rest of his life. Along the way he decided to join his father in the leather craftsman industry and eventually opened Tandy Leather in Windham, Maine. Through a mutual friend he was introduced to Mary Connolly who he later married in 1989. They celebrated 36 years of marriage in June. Though he had many jobs throughout the years, it was easy to tell that being a dad was his favorite. Chef, chauffeur, social director, maid, teacher— he devoted himself to raising his two daughters and reminding them to never take life too seriously. He never missed a game or meet, provided a comfortable place to come home to at the end of the day and held the family together when his wife deployed overseas in 2004. Jeff always wanted to ensure that everyone around him was having a good time and eating good food. You could always find Jeff on a treasure hunt, whether it was through metal detecting or bidding on storage units. He enjoyed providing his curated finds on "Crabby Grampy's Emporium" Ebay site. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son Ryan who died at birth. Surviving in addition to his wife, Mary Reutlinger, are his daughters Morgan Reutlinger of Windham and Kassie Skvorak and her husband John of Windham; 3 grandchildren: Lilly, Rhett and Liam; brother James "Jim" Reutlinger of Windham and sister Janice Reutlinger of Hailey, Idaho. The family thanks Hospice of Southern Maine and the dedicated nurses and nursing aids who helped provide Jeff and his family comfort during his final days. At this time, services will be postponed until Spring and Jeff desired a small ceremony with close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Hospice of Southern Maine.
