Jon B. Hebert, 75, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2018, surrounded by his family after a brief illness. He was born in Westbrook on July 31, 1942, the son of Benjamin and Adelaide (Hutchins) Hebert. He graduated from Westbrook High School in 1960. Soon thereafter, he enlisted and served in the US Navy as a submariner until 1964. A lifelong resident of Westbrook, Jon married his high school sweetheart, Priscilla Roma Hebert, in 1965. He worked at SD Warren Paper Company where he retired in 1995. Jon then served 15 years on the Evergreen Credit Union Board of Directors. As a young Boy Scout Jon, developed a love for Baxter State Park and the Mt. Katahdin area. He returned with his family year after year and instilled in his children and grandchildren a love and appreciation for camping, hiking, fishing, and all things outdoors. Time spent in the woods of Northern Maine are some of the family's most treasured memories. Jon had an entrepreneurial spirit and an inventor's mind. He loved having a project to work on, and solving problems gave him great satisfaction. He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid New England sports fan. He looked forward to and thoroughly enjoyed daily morning "briefings" and afternoon cribbage games with his longtime pals at the River's Edge Deli. Jon found the most joy in spending time with his family. He never missed a birthday celebration, holiday gathering, sporting event or awards ceremony taking great pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Matthew Hebert. He is survived by his wife, Priscilla; his children, Kelly Hebert Dorr and her husband, Tom; Jamie Hebert and his wife, Jennifer; Kathryn Hebert Begos and her husband Ed; 8 grandchildren, Jenna and Alicia Dorr; Ben, Will and Sam Hebert; and Adam, Gabrielle and Joe Begos; and 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Peg Morton, her husband, Bob, and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 2-4 PM at Dolby, Blais & Segee Funeral Chapel, 35 Church St. Westbrook. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 9:30 AM. Interment will be in St. Hyacinth's Cemetery, in Westbrook, in the Spring.
