John Robert Wadas, 83, of Gorham Maine, passed peacefully at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough Maine on December 8, 2025, with his family at his side. John was born July 29, 1942, in Steubenville, Ohio, the son of the late John and Anna Stagani Wadas. John graduated from Toronto High School in Toronto Ohio. After graduating, he joined the US Air Force and served from 1961 to 1965. He leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Joan Straw Wadas. Also, daughter, Deborah Ellis and partner Rusty Pinkham, son Daniel Wadas and partner Matt Harrison, step children, Todd Stigman and wife Janine, Keith Stigman and wife Wendy, George Goggins and girlfriend Nicole, Wayne Goggins and wife Sara. Also, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Although John moved to Maine, after his military service, he was faithful to his Ohio teams, the Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State, he was an avid football fan. All four years of high school John played baseball and basketball, excelling as a pitcher in baseball. John retired from Hannaford Brothers after 37 years.
