Portland – John William Tron, 67, died on June 26, 2016 at his home in Portland. He was born in New London, CT on November 4, 1948, the son of Wallace and Marion (Candage) Tron. John grew up in CT, and attended the local schools. At the age of 18, he married Linda Price. Together they moved back and forth from Maine and Connecticut. When they settled in Maine, they raised their two daughters at their house in Limington. After over 20 years of marriage, Linda and John, decided to divorce, but they have always remained close. Spending time with his daughters was important to John, and together they liked to go for what they termed, "woodsie" rides. This consisted of going for a drive, and when they came to a road without a lot of traffic (often out in the woods), John would let his daughters sit in his lap and help drive the car. John worked for the AMF Reece Corporation, as a supervisor, for many years. Even after the company moved out of Maine, he continued to work for them in Virginia, finally retiring from there in 2004. In John's spare time, he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, camping, and bass fishing. He also enjoyed archery, which he taught to his daughters, and he would often design and tool his own sights. In addition to that, he also tied flies for fly fishing. When he was no longer able to tie the flies, he began making a composite data base of all the different types of flies, and what they would be used for. John was a family man. The most pride in his life came from his children and grandchildren. John was especially close to his granddaughter, Jaclyn, whom he helped take care of since she was born. A few years ago, John moved from his home in Buxton, back to Limington, and then most recently to Portland, just to be close to his grandchildren. He was able to see them daily, riding their four wheelers and swimming, and getting them ready for bed and watching the "Spooky" movie with them. John is survived by his father, Wallace of Smyrna Mills; daughters, Melinda "Mindy" Littlefield and husband Ray of Portland, and Nichole "Nikki" Allen of Cornish; grandchildren, Sammara Allen, Riley LaRose, Jaclyn Angers, and Grady Allen; brothers, Steven Tron of Smyrna Mills, and Robert Tron and wife Cindy of Virginia; sister, Barbara McManus and husband Paul of Porter; nephews, including, Billy Marsters, who he was especially close to; his former wife Linda Dennison and her husband Patrick of West Baldwin; and many lifelong close friends. John is predeceased by his mother. A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 76 State Street, Gorham. A period of visitation will be held from 11am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery, Rte. 5, Limerick.
