Obituary

WINDHAM—John H. Tanguay Jr., 82, of Windham, died peacefully surrounded by his children on November 25th at the Gosnell Hospice House, on what would have been his 61st wedding anniversary. John was born in Portland, ME on July 21, 1934, a son of John H. Tanguay Sr. and Mary E. (Smith) Tanguay. He was a 1953 graduate of Deering High School. On November 25, 1955, he married Nancy Corson, and together moved to California and raised their family. While living in California, John worked for the Sun Newspaper in San Bernardino for seven years. He was then trained to be a fireman on the Rialto Fire Department. John eventually retired in 1984 as a court clerk from the San Bernardino County Court System. He and Nancy retired to the mountains of Maine where they built their dream home in Eustis. In later years they moved to Farmington and after Nancy's passing John relocated to Windham. John had a friendly disposition and the ability to make all those around him laugh. He enjoyed reading, listening to music, mowing his lawn in the summer and snow blowing in the winter. His life-long relationship with his childhood friends is a testament to his loyalty to others. John is survived by his children, Laurie of WA, Valerie Tanguay-Masner and her husband, Tom of Yucaipa, CA, Joseph Tanguay of Riverside, CA, and Daniel Tanguay of Jacksonville, NC; siblings, Jane Seaman of Oceanside, CA, Anne Knight of Oceanside, CA, Jean Ranahan of Kolonia, Pohnpei; nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, his loving wife, Nancy (Corson) Tanguay, and his siblings, Edward Tanguay, Marie Vogt and Mark Tanguay.. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham, ME 04062, from 12noon to 1:00pm. A funeral service will begin at 1:00pm and burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery in North Windham.
