John J. Kenny Sr., 62, of West Pleasant St., Westbrook, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House with his family by his side. He was born in Portland, the son of Almas and Prudence (Merrill) Kenny. John was raised in So. Portland and graduated from South Portland High School. He later served in the U.S. Navy. John worked for Barber Foods for 21 years. He was a member of and past president of the Spurwink Rod & Gun Club in Cape Elizabeth, and the N.R.A.. John always gave generously to the American Red Cross, donating blood platelets every other week, with over 300 total donations. He loved being with his family and always found special times to spend with his granddaughter Morgan. He was predeceased by a brother Merrill Kenny. John is survived by his wife Judith (Melville) Kenny of Westbrook; his daughter Deborah Buco and her husband Todd; his sons John Kenny Jr. of So. Portland, Patrick Kenny of Portland, and Jim Morgan and his wife Darcy of Dresden; and four grandchildren, Sean, Andrew, Morgan, and Jacob; his brothers Peter Kenny of Michigan and Walter Kenny of Rhode Island; his sisters Beverly Gower of Old Orchard Beach, Elaine Hibbard of Cumberland, Maureen Camunas of California, and Ann Merrill of So. Portland. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Val Dougherty for all of her love and support.
