John Hawkes' Obituary

John Thomas Hawkes II, 53 of Windham passed away suddenly at his home in the early morning on April 3rd. He was born on September 22, 1972, and spent most of his life in Gorham before moving to Windham.

He is predeceased by his parents, Nancy (Powers) and John Hawkes.

John is survived by his loving girlfriend of six years, Jennifer, and her children, whom he loved as his own: Justine (Paul) Saucier and Jacob (Madeline) Bachelder. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Alexa May, Emily Rose (“chicken poop”), Markus, Madison and Xander.

He is further survived by his siblings: Terry (Fred) LaMontagne, Pamela Hawkes (Barr), Debra (Jim) Brown and Bob (Sue) Hawkes. He also leaves behind his cherished nieces: Nicole (Jon) Harris, Shannon (Jay) Briner, Sarah Brown, Elizabeth (Aneesh) Sahni – and nephews Jeff (Jess) Hawkes, Derek Hawkes, Greg (Ashley) Barr, Jamie (Tricia) LaMontagne and Lucas LaMontagne.

John’s greatest passions in life were his family, friends, supporting a Motorcycle Club who treated him like family, enjoying local music and cheering on his beloved Cleveland Browns. His favorite place to watch the games was Pat’s Pizza, where he was a familiar face and always made to feel at home-often with a TV all to himself for his beloved Brown’s games.

John was also an avid fan of Jaws, making several trips to Martha’s Vineyard to celebrate his love for the film. Recently, he began learning the guitar.

John’s family was his priority, and to him, his closest friends were family.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Mike Todd, Nate Esty, Chris Randall, Mark Hamblen, Shawn (Sully) Sullivan, Buddy Fogg, Pat Moore and Chad Davis for their lifelong friendship and for always being there for one another.

Visitation will be at Dolby, Blais & Segee 434 River Road. South Windham on Friday, April 10th from 5pm to 7pm. There will also be a gathering in John’s memory on Sunday, April 12th from 12pm to 3pm at Pat’s Pizza in Windham. A waitress will be available; however, food and beverages will be at the expense of those attending. Please bring all your favorite stories!!!
