John Franklin Harriman, 89, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 9, 2025, in Westbrook Maine. He was born on May 8, 1936, in Mechanic Falls, Maine, to Leonard and Evelyn Purington Harriman. A graduate of Mechanic Falls High School, Class of 1954, John built a lifelong career in the oil and heating industry. He worked for Harriman's Oil Burner Service, Hughes Oil Company, and Irving Oil. He also operated his own business, Harriman and Sons Oil Burner Service, before later working at Westbrook College. Even in retirement, John remained active in the community by working for ten years at the Westbrook Dairy Queen. John enjoyed spending time outdoors and found joy in fishing, hunting, and camping. He was also a member of the Masons and Shriners. He is survived by his daughter Barbara Gaudreau and her husband (Steve); sons Steve Harriman and his wife (Rose) and Ronald Harriman and his wife (Karen); daughter Deborah and her husband (Steve); sisters Joanne Jones and Gloria French; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dorothy Harriman, and sister Carolyn Coady. A graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Mechanic Falls at a later date. John's life was marked by dedication to his work and family. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
