John DiRenzo, 89, of Westbrook went home to be with the Lord on November 9, 2018. He was born in Portland on November 26, 1928 the son of Antonio and Assunta DiFiore DiRenzo. John attended Portland and Westbrook schools and worked in the family business, Matty's Dine and Dance for about 30 years. In 1978, he left the restaurant business to start Cumberland Mills New and Used Furniture store. He retired in 1992. In 1954, he married Dora Taylor and together they enjoyed 64 years of marriage. John loved boxing, bowling, hunting, watching the Red Sox games and the Christian Broadcast Network. At the age of 30, he became a member of Brothers of the Brush. In 1972 John accepted the Lord as his savior. He was a member and Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Portland, and Galilee Church of Gorham. He devoted many hours witnessing to others door to door. John loved his family deeply and cherished the time spent with them. He was predeceased by his parents; one son John Jr., three sisters, Lena, Marion, and Esther and four brothers, Matty, Antonio, Dominic and Joseph. Besides his wife, Dora, he is survived by his two children, Gina Clements of Westbrook, and John DiRenzo and his wife Terri of Buxton; sisters Antionette Farrin, Shirley Cleveland, and Rose Prillaman; grandchildren Dean Proctor and his wife Heather, Jason Rossi and his fiancé Nicole Heath, Erica McCluskey and her husband Ryan, Kaitlyn DiRenzo and her fiancé Luke Fernandez; great grandchildren Brandon, Austin, Cameron, Jocelyn, Amelia, and Liam; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 from 4-6 PM at the Westbrook Chapel of Dolby, Blais & Segee, 35 Church St. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 415 US Route 1 Scarborough. Interment will follow in Forest City Cemetery in South Portland. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in John's memory to Cornerstone Baptist Church
