Westbrook, Joan Varney Caron, 85, of Westbrook, passed away, unexpectedly, on Tuesday December 15, 2015, at Maine Medical Center. She was born in Westbrook, where she lived most of her life, the daughter of Frank, JR and Diane (Aube) Varney. She was a member of The Longfellow Sweethearts Red Hatters Club and the Westbrook Senior Citizens. She loved playing cards, bowling, painting and line dancing. Mostly she loved her family. She was proud of each member from her children to her great grand children. She was generous of heart and compassionate, always willing to lend a hand. You were lucky if she cooked for you! She had a knack for cooking and baking and was truly a great at it. Lets just say people have been known to fight over a whoopie pie or two! Her " toot kay" as it was known in our family was second to none! She always wanted to feed you! Joan was predeceased by her parents; her husband Ronald R. Caron; and her brother Donald Varney. She is survived by a son Alan R Caron of Tampa, FL, daughter Nancy J. Caron and her partner Donna Allen of Oakland, Maine, a son Jeffrey P Caron and his partner Michael J Tobin of South Portland, Maine; grandchildren Scott Caron and wife Yolanda, Jennifer Small and husband Mark, Amy Lafontaine and Fiance Brian Thiele and grandson Craig Lafontaine; and great-grandchildren Natalia Caron, Marissa Caron, Zachary Small and Madeline Small. Visiting hours will be held from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Monday morning, at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, followed by interment at St Hyacinth Cemetery. All are welcome.
