Brooks, 80, died on October 18, 2017, in Portland.  He was born in Westbrook on September 8, 1937, the son of Thomas Brooks and Agnes Robichaud. Jerome was a 1955 graduate of Westbrook High School and earned his Mechanical Engineering degree in 1960 from the University of Maine, Orono.  He then went on to the University of New Hampshire where in 1965, he received his Master of Science in Engineering.  Jerome had 34 years of government service at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a submarine system designer and at Submepp Activity.  Jerome loved his Shrine, as was an active member.  He was a Mason, a Knights Templar, a Kora Shriner in Lewiston, the Kora Band Director, and a Jester.  Jerome was an experienced Clarinetist who played in many town bands prior to playing for the Westbrook City Band, the Community Orchestra of the Portland Symphony (COPS), and the Presumpscot River Bottom Boys for over 50 years, whom he traveled Europe with. Jerome was a car enthusiast. He restored his wife's original 1960 VW Beetle many times, and was the proud owner of his 1968 Karman Ghia convertible which he won many trophies with.  Jerome was a family man, who loved spending time with his grandchildren.  He was an amazing father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, and will be fondly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his son Thomas A. Brooks of Mechanic Falls; daughter, Catherine Weismeyer of Kittery; four grandchildren, Alysia M. MacDougall, Thomas M. Brooks, Katrina M. Brooks, and Travis R. Weismeyer; and great granddaughter, Clara Mae MacDougall. Jerome is predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Priscilla Mae (Hatt) Brooks in 2011. Visitation will be held from 2-5 pm on Sunday, October 22, at the Blais and Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday, October 23, at St. Anthony of Padua (formerly St. Hyacinth Church), 268 Brown St., Westbrook.
