BRIDGTON—Jeffrey Russell Travis, 72, passed away August 29, 2019 at Maine Medical Center. He was born August 5, 1947 a son of Herbert and Eleanor (Johnson) Travis. Jeff grew up in Sanford where he graduated from Sanford High School in the class of 1966. He then furthered his education by earning a Bachelor's Degree in Forestry from the University of Maine at Orono. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving proudly during the Vietnam War. He was a Pilot and flew one of the last planes to leave Vietnam. Upon discharge of the service, Jeff was self-employed as a contractor for many years. In 1986, he moved to Bridgton in order to be closer to nature. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going on walks to Foster Pond near his home. He is survived by his loving partner of 35 years, Ruth Letourneau; his son, William Travis and his wife Jackie and her children Dan, Jocelyn, and John; step children, Guy Letourneau and his wife Donna, and Jason Letourneau and his wife Ingrid; his father, Herbert Travis; his siblings, Steven Travis and his wife, Joan, Jean Travis, and Ruth Lavoie and her husband Norm; grandchildren, Logan, Mitchel, Dylan, and Caleb. He was predeceased by his mother, Eleanor Travis. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 10am at the Southern Maine Memorial Veteran's Cemetery, 83 Stanley Road, Springvale, Maine 04083. Arrangements are in the care of the Westbrook Chapel of Dolby Blais & Segee, 35 Church St., Westbrook, ME 04092. In lieu of flowers donation's in Jeff's name may be made to the Lakes Environmental Association, 230 Main St. Bridgton, ME 04009.
