Obituary

Windham – Jeanne Germaine Guimond Landry, 90 years a loving mother and memere, after a full life of devotion to her faith, love of her children and grandchildren, with quips of humor along the way, peacefully passed on July 24, 2022. She was born at home on Lyman Street in Westbrook, Maine on April 19, 1932. A child of the Depression and World War II, she was of that generation that quietly, but with undeniable strength, persevered through life. In her younger years, she worked at LaFond's Department Store, the 5 and Dime Store, and the Star Theatre in Westbrook. After she graduated from Westbrook High School, she worked as a teletype operator at the former S.D. Warren Paper Mill. She married Raymond D. Landry on May 11, 1957. She was a long time member of St. Hyacinth Church in Westbrook as well as Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Windham. She was the President of the Sodality of the Children of Mary, the President of the Sodality of St. Anne for 22 years where she started her pilgrimages to St. Anne De Beaupre in Quebec, Canada for 22 years. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, and belonged to the Lady's Guild at Our Lady's in Windham. She, along with her husband Raymond, rented TV's at the former Westbrook Hospital; she was the owner of Lady Jane Ceramics for many years. She loved skiing, football, baseball, golfing and bowling. She wrote poetry and played the piano, loved making quilts for her children and grandchildren. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Raymond D. Landry, her siblings Rita, Roland, Bernadette, Roger, Theresa, and Paul. Surviving are her daughters Cathy Johnson and her husband Jim of Gray, Diane Crowell and her husband Burt of Windham, and son Donald Landry and his wife Annielu DeWitt of Falmouth. Grandchildren: Natalie Johnson of Minneapolis, MN; Noah Johnson, USAF Oklahoma City, OK; Sarah and Alex Crowell of Windham; Anna Landry of Windham, Monica Sawyer of South Portland, Haley Landry of Orono, and Annabelle Santini of York; and many nieces and nephews. There will be no visiting hours. A funeral mass will be held on August 6 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 919 Roosevelt Trail, Windham with a reception following the mass. Interment will be at St. Hyacinth Cemetery, Westbrook. In lieu of flowers, those who wish, may make a donation in Jeanne's name to the Social Welfare Committee at Our Lady of Perpetual Help for the homeless.
