WINDHAM—Jean Theresa Grimaldi, 69, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by the love of her family on September 14, 2018. She was born August 8, 1949, a daughter of Ralph and Eleanor (Sweeney) Roberts. Jean grew up in the greater Portland area, and graduated from Deering High School. On December 12, 1968, she married the love of her life, John Grimaldi Sr; they spent their honeymoon in Hawaii, a place that stayed near and dear to Jean's heart. Together they started a family while John was in the Army and lived on base at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri before returning home to Maine. Jean was one of a kind with a big heart. She enjoyed going out to eat and playing Bingo with her friends. She loved the holidays, especially the Christmas season and particularly enjoyed collecting snowmen. Every year, she spoiled her family with gifts that she enjoyed shopping for each and every one. Known to her grandchildren as "Nana" Jean was the true matriarch of her family, selflessly putting everyone else's needs before her own. She was the rock of the family and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, John Grimaldi Sr. of Scarborough; children, Julie Pace and her husband Timothy of Windham, Tammy Harmon and her husband Snoopy of Portland, John Grimaldi Jr. and his wife Nikki of Eastport, and Eleanor Grimaldi of Windham; siblings, Ralph Roberts Jr., Edward Roberts, David Roberts, Jamie Roberts and his wife Vicky, John Roberts, Sharon Pizzo and her husband, Joe, Donna Brown and her husband Tom, and Nancy St. Peter; sister in law, Margo Hirtle and her husband Mark, 21 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; a special friend, Tina Sangillo of Florida; and of course, her beloved dog, Bosco. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 12noon at the home of Nancy St. Peter, 71 Seavey St., Westbrook, ME 04092.
