Obituary

Jean Merrifield Dolloff, 81, of Gorham, passed away on May 18, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her family. The daughter of Chester and Gladys (Libby) Merrifield, and the youngest of their ten children, she was born on March 31, 1936. She married Donald J. Dolloff on July 6, 1956. Throughout their nearly 61 years of marriage they enjoyed spending time with family and friends, dancing and snowmobiling. As a member of Cressey Road (formerly School Street) United Methodist Church, she was a Youth Group Leader, Choir member, member & Director of Handbell Choir, Director of Youth Handbells, member of United Methodist Women, Financial Secretary, chaired many events and served on numerous committees. She was active in her community as a 4-H Leader and member & President of the Annie Louise Cary Music Club. She was a devoted homemaker and also worked as a Manager in the Gorham School Food Service Program. In her later years she clogged, square danced and enjoyed tap dancing, including competition and recitals until age 79. She had many creative talents and was a gifted, self-taught seamstress and cook. She was a loving and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sibling, aunt, and friend. She brought joy and laughter to all aspects of her life and is the reason why her family remains so close. She is survived by her husband Don, and daughters Heidi Dolloff Noyce (husband Gary) of Gorham, Holly Dolloff Gallant (husband Edwin) of Standish, and Handi Dolloff-Holt (husband Jeffrey) and granddaughters Emily and Sydney Dolloff-Holt of Woodland Park, Colorado. The family wishes to thank her doctors, MaineHealth Care at Home, MaineHealth Palliative Care and Hospice of Southern Maine for the exceptional care she received. The service celebrating her life will be held on June 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Cressey Road United Methodist Church, 81 Cressey Road, Gorham. Guests are invited to wear bright colors to honor her life. Arrangements are under the care of Dolby Funeral Chapel, Windham. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to: Cressey Road UMC, specify Handbell Choir or Robert B.
