It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Janice D. Ramsdell, 83, of Standish, on March 20, 2026. She was born on September 11, 1942, in Bath, Maine to Albion and Thelma (Sutherland) Carr. Janice lived a life enriched by her passions and the love she bestowed upon her family and community. 

Janice graduated from Deering High School. Her journey included a variety of roles, from tending to a greenhouse to serving in a restaurant, and eventually finding her calling at a flea market where she shared her enthusiasm for literature with others by selling antique books. 

In addition to her career and motherhood, Janice was a remarkable community volunteer, dedicating her time and compassion to the Westbrook Community Hospital, the local library, and suicide rescue efforts. Her spirit of service reflected her deep commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.

Janice is predeceased by her parents, her first husband, Robert E. Seavey Sr. and her late husband of 33 years, Earl W. Ramsdell. She is survived by her sons, Robert E. Seavey and his wife Shelly of Old Orchard Beach, James A. Seavey and his wife Debbie of Scarborough, Stephen D. Seavey of Windham, foster son, Richard Morin of Westbrook, and her stepsons, Richard K. Ramsdell of Florida, Joseph K. Ramsdell and his wife Cheryl of Florida, and Ronald A. Ramsdell and his wife Kathy of New Gloucester; her brother, Alan Carr and his wife Julie; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

In honor of Janice’s wishes, there will be no services held at this time.
