Janice M. Harrington, 82 of Vero Beach, Florida and Westbrook, Maine passed away Tuesday August 8, 2023 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. She was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts the daughter of Mary (Buckley) Harrington and John J. Harrington. She graduated from St. Rose High School in 1959. Jan then attended St. Mary of the Woods College in Indiana. Later she returned to Cambridge and graduated from Holy Ghost Hospital School of Nursing. After that, Janice began her lengthy career in nursing at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston. Jan worked there for over 34 years and was considered by patients and colleagues alike as a nurturing and friendly caretaker. Jan was recognized throughout the hospital by her beautiful, warm smile. Jan enjoyed traveling, music, the theater, and reading. She adored social events and was one of the first on the dance floor when the music started, and the last to leave. Anyone who knew Jan, knew her love of food and cooking. She could be found most often in the kitchen of her home, perfecting her recipes. Jan was generous with her love and her time. Jan treasured her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Millie, her brother Jack, and her loving friend and companion Bill McLaughlin. She leaves behind her brother Paul Harrington, his wife Maureen Porter, sister-in-law Maureen Harrington, brother-in-law Ed Carafa, and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves many close friends especially her dear, lifelong friend, Betsy Ollis. Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Saint Susanna Church 262 Needham Street, Dedham, MA on Saturday August 19th at 9:00 AM.
