GORHAM-- Janice Marie (Harmon) Muehle, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2017 surrounded by loved ones. Janice was born in Gorham on June 6, 1936, to Lillian Palmer Harmon and Russell Harmon of Gorham. Jan graduated from Gorham High School in 1954. She married Bernie (Bernard) Muehle of Gorham on January 28, 1955. Jan and Bernie lived in their North Gorham home for 60+ years where Janice created and maintained beautiful flower gardens that surround their property. Her vegetable gardens were a great labor of love for her year after year. Their home was the gathering place for all holidays and family cookouts. Christmas Eves were always opened to all and attended by many, both friends and neighbors. Janice was an avid seamstress and many of her quilts, braided rugs, dolls and various creations still adorn their home. Janice was a Deacon and longtime member of The United Church of Christ at North Gorham where she was active in Church Suppers and volunteering. She was also a longtime member of the Gorham Historical Society, Cumberland County Extension and North Gorham Cemetery Association. She loved being at Sebago Lake State Park in the summer, camping and day trips to the beach with Aunt Vera and the kids. Other days were spent with her sister at East Sebago floating on air mattresses in the water, soaking up the sun and talking for hours while children of all generations played in the water. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bernard "Bernie" Muehle, of Gorham and 5 children; Michael Muehle of Gorham, Brian "Kirk" Muehle and his wife Cindy Muehle of Windham, Kat Powers of Scarborough, Kim Muehle of Kona, HI and James Muehle of Boston, MA. She is also survived by eight Grandchildren; Sandra Muehle, Paul Muehle, Sarah Muehle, Breezy Muehle, Isabelle Muehle, Gretchen Muehle, Slade and Trent Overcash, two Great-Grandchildren Gabby Muehle and Ella Muehle. She was predeceased by her Grandson, Brent Muehle, in March of 2016. Jan is also survived by her sister, Betty Cribby of South Portland and her sister-in-law Vera Muehle of Raymond along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was also pre-deceased by her sisters Barbara Harmon Keene of Gorham and Frances Harmon Brown of Colorado. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Janice's name to: The United Church of Christ at North Gorham, 2 Standish Neck Road, Gorham, ME 04038. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at 1pm at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham, ME 04062. Burial will follow at the North Gorham Cemetery.
