WESTBROOK - On August 19, 2020 Janet E. Verrill, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away at the age of 86 while surrounded by her children at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. Janet was born on December 22, 1933 as the only child to Howard and Anna Manchester and grew up in Westbrook, Maine. She met her husband, Leo, through a friend and after knowing each other a very short time they were wed and were married 50 years; before Leo's passing in 2014. Mom and Dad loved to travel, whether it was driving to Florida for the winter or delivering campers across the country. They also loved their Caribbean cruises and shopping on the islands. Janet worked at SD Warren and Simpson's Hamburger Stand prior to her marrying Leo, but upon their marriage she became a full-time mom and housewife. Her house was immaculate and every night we sat down to a home cooked meal. Janet's passion was her family as she grew up with strong family ties and passed that heritage onto her family. She loved family gatherings, whether casual or the holiday celebrations. She would start baking in early December for all the goodies that would delight our appetites during the holidays and decorate the house for the holiday; each corner had a small touch of holiday cheer. Janet is survived by her children, Allen Cronan and his wife, Judy, MaryAnn Knights and her late husband, George; Christa Remillard and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Ryan Cronan and his wife, Adele, Brandy Cobbett and her husband, Jeff, Joshua, Jason, Nicole Smart and husband, Carlyle, Jessica Brown and husband, Kevin, Alexis and Shalahn; and great-grandchildren, Colby, Aurora, Natalie, Mason, Colton, Jaxton, Owen, Connor, Cassie and Chloe. Burial will be private for the family. A Celebration of Life will be held 10 to 11 am, Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Woodlawn Cemetery, 380 Stroudwater Street, Westbrook; someone will be at the main gate to direct you.
