James O. Nugent, 98 of Gorham, Maine died at Gosnell House in Scarborough on June 29, 2023. He was born on May 29, 1925 the son of the late Arthur and Florence Nugent. He married Marjorie Morton on February 20th, 1947. They celebrated 76 years of marriage in February of this year, 2023. James was a U.S. Army veteran having served during WWII from 1943 to 1945. He was on the Gorham Fire Department White Rock Division for 42 years. During that time, he served as Fire Chief. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Marjorie, son Randy, sisters Laura and Virginia, brothers Elmer, Melville, Colon and Arthur. Surviving are daughter Anita; sisters-in-law Elinor and Joan; seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the comfort keepers and hospice team for their loving care. A graveside service will be held Wednesday July 19, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Sappling Hill Cemetery, Sebago Lake Road in Whiterock, Maine. A reception will follow at James and Marjorie's home 245 Sebago Lake Road.
