James George Merry (Jim) of Scarborough, Maine; died at home with family on November 6th, 2025. Jim had just celebrated his 93rd birthday on October 29th with family and friends. Jim was born in Sanford, Maine to George Merry and Margaret Morrisette Dolloff. George later married Eleanor Strout and had (4) four children. Jim's sibling's are Arlene Merry Tanguay, Virginia Merry Schultz, Fred Merry and Robert Merry; also (1/2) half-brother's Dolloff's Jim graduated from Scarborough High School, class of 1952. He greatly enjoyed participating in swimming, drama, all sports and dancing. After school he enlisted in the U.S. Marines and served during peace-time on Paris Island and abroad. After his service, in the Marines, Jim attended college at USM for Engineering. When he graduated, he married Nancy E. Keith of Westbrook; on August 29th 1959; his wife of 63 years. Together they loved dancing, antiquing, play cards, going to the movies and plays; and long country drives. Since 1959, Jim owned and operated James G. Merry Building Movers, a business; now owned and run by two(2) of his sons. Jim also had a passion for his different hobbies. They included fishing and camping with the kids, hunting, scuba diving, roller skating, metal detecting on the many rivers and lakes in Maine and mowing his properties. Jim and Nancy had (8) eight children respectively; Elizabeth T. Merry; Stephen M. Merry and wife, Crystal; Gregory D. Merry and wife, Sylvia; Christopher B. Merry and wife, Melissa; Rebecca L. Cragin and husband, Jeffrey; Joshua B. Merry and wife, Raye-Lin; Jason M. Merry; and Peter M. Merry and wife, Tatyana. They also have (16) grandchildren and many great grands and extended family with they loved greatly. Jim led a very full life and he will be missed by all who knew him. There will be a Celebration of Life Service on December 27, 2025, at their church in Gorham, at 2pm. Grace Bible Church of Gorham 74 Deering Road, 04038 Everyone who wishes may attend.
