Obituary

Westbrook – Many lost an amazing man when James William Foye passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of March 15, 2012. Jim fought a brave battle with cancer right until the end. Devoted husband, father, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, and friend, Jim was born on July 6, 1959 in Portland and was a lifelong resident of Westbrook.  He is survived by his loving wife Melissa and three beautiful children Ashley, Matt and Ryan.  He also leaves behind his brother Mark Foye as well as his sister Ann Ingram and many family and friends.  Jim always had a twinkle in his eye and combined with that sly grin and jovial laugh everyone who met him knew he was special. His deep love of family and friends was evident in everything he did. His work ethic and his moral compass were the cornerstone of his character. His Catholic faith was always at the center of everything he did. Jim made time for all his family and friends. He was selfless with his generous spirit and when you were hugged by Jim, you never forgot that feeling. Jim was a genuine person to the core. He was often on the doorstep of friends houses at 6:00am to share a cup of coffee and conversation. He wanted to hear about the lives of his family and friends and he genuinely cared.  He and his brother Mark built a thriving flooring business together and made J&M, Inc. a thriving business based on good business strategies and old-fashioned values. He often referred to his employees as family and worked hard to make each member of the J&M, Inc. team feel important. He was proud of his Westbrook community and was a respected figure among the residents. He was always willing to lend a hand to any project that would make a better community for all. When the new public safety building was built he and Mark donated the materials and time to the city to create the flooring in the new foyer. When St. Anthony's decided to put up a waterfall on its' alter for Easter he was right there to help.  He cherished the time he spent helping others and felt that time given to others was the best use of his time.  His favorite place to be was at his camp in Stratton, ME. He loved the relaxing feeling that always settled over him when he pulled into the driveway. His family was his life. He never missed a sporting event when his kids were playing. He loved to watch Ashley defend her position on the soccer field, was thrilled with every home run that came off the end of Matt's bat and marveled at Ryan's prowess on the lacrosse field. He was a proud man by nature but he was most proud of his family. He encouraged all of his children to follow their dreams and reach their goals. He believed in them. He will forever be remembered for his sense of humor and quick wit. He was so full of life and always saw the best in everything and everyone. He was a "true to the end" friend to many, a devoted husband and father as well as a mentor and leader to many. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Sunday at St. Anthony's Parish Church, Brown Street, Westbrook. A funeral mass will be held at 10 AM Monday at St. Anthony's Parish Church. Interment for family only will follow in St. Hyacinth Cemetery.  On line condolences may be expressed at www.blaisandhayfuneralhome.com.
