STANDISH—James Henry "Jim" Bryan, 79, of Standish, passed away peacefully February 16, 2018 at the Barron Center. Jim was born on July 26, 1938, in Portland, the eldest son of William and Jane (Labrecque) Bryan. He attended Westbrook schools graduating from high school in 1956. He attended the University of Maine in Orono, and graduated in 1960 with a B.S. in Agricultural Economics. Jim started his career in the food business as a store manager for Sampson's Supermarket. He then went to work as a sales representative for the Kellogg Sales Company, retiring after 36 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed 55 years of marriage to his wife, Therese "Terry" (Barr). Together they raised four wonderful sons of whom he was very proud of. Jim was a family man and enjoyed being involved in all his sons sports activities. He spent many years coaching their little league, basketball and soccer teams, from which he received many awards for his loyal and dedicated service. In retirement, Jim and Terry became "snow birds" wintering in Florida and spending their summers at their home on Sebago Lake. Jim was an avid golfer, loved boating, and spending time at the lake with his family and friends. Besides his wife Terry, he is survived by his four sons, Paul and his wife Brenda, Dana and his wife Kim, Mark and his wife Susan, Gary and his wife Joann; 9 grandchildren; and his three brothers, David, Tom and Tim and his wife Sheila, and many nieces and nephews. Jim's family wishes to thank the staff at the Barron Center for the wonderful care and support they provided for him and his family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 11am at St. Anne's Church, 299 Main St., Gorham, ME 04038. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Ave., Staten Island, NY 10305.
