James Austin Bernier, 40, of Methodist Rd., Westbrook, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 30, 2015. He was born in Portland, the son of David and Patricia (Nadeau) Bernier. James graduated from Westbrook High School and Westbrook College, receiving his degree as a Registered Nurse. He worked as an R.N. at Boston General Hospital, Bringham and Women's, and Maine Medical Center. He enjoyed camping and loved his cat Pooter. James is survived by his parents David and Patricia of Westbrook; a sister Michelle and her partner Jessie of Southwick, MA; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visiting hours will be held from 1 to 3 PM Thursday, May 7, at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook, followed by a funeral service at 3 PM. Interment will take place at a later date.
